The 2018 Hunan (Changsha) Science and Technology Week kicked off on May 19 at the Changsha Binjiang Cultural Park.

The sci-tech week event is of important significance to promoting the scientific spirit, creating an innovative atmosphere, and improving the scientific literary to the whole nation. It has become a science popularization brand of high public participation, wide coverage, and large social influence. This year the event lasted between May 19 and 26, themed on “Sci-Tech Innovation Making Prosperous China”.

The organizing committee has planned to organize and arrange ten major activities during the period, including Hunan provincial contest about the popular science lectures, selection of outstanding popular science works in the province, the Hunan Summit for Innovation, the Hunan provincial primary and secondary schools science and technology knowledge competition on earthquake prevention and disaster reduction, and the Hunan provincial intellectual property knowledge contest, and the public nutrition week action.

At the opening ceremony, the 7th Hunan Outstanding Popular Science Award, the 2018 Hunan Provincial Popular Science Docent Competition Award, and the 15th Changsha University Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition winners were awarded. The 12th batch of Hunan science popularization bases were also conferred the plates. After the opening ceremony, provincial leaders visited the exhibition area. (www.enghunan.gov.cn)
