Hu Min and Hu Junjie are fraternal twins from Guang'an, Sichuan province. Hu Min is the slightly older sister, and Hu Junjie her younger brother. Last year, both sat for the college entrance examination. Hu Min was admitted to Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. However, as orphans being supported by the meager income of their grandfather, Hu Min and Hu Junjie knew that both of them could not afford to attend university. Hu Junjie never even filled out his application form; instead, he began working to help pay for his sister’s tuition.
Hu Junjie said that, as he is the man of the family, it is his responsibility to take good care of his grandfather and grandmother. He explained that his sister is an outstanding student who deserves a better future.
Hu Junjie's choice moved many people after the twins' story was reported by media, and a number of generous citizens took it upon themselves to help. China Eastern Airlines even promised to support the siblings through their studies, and the local government also provided them with student loans. This year, Hu Junjie took the examination again and got a score of 544. He was admitted to Jianghan University in Wuhan, officially registering on Sept. 3.
On the morning of Sept. 3, Hu Min accompanied Hu Junjie to the airport in Chengdu. Hu Junjie would take a flight to Wuhan, with the ticket paid for by China Eastern Airlines. Hu Min said with satisfaction, "My brother is finally going to college. If he had given up his studies forever, I would have felt guilty for the rest of my life."
