Fu Suqing, the world's oldest female, died at 8:35 a.m. on Saturday at her home in Chengdu of southwestern China's Sichuan province. She reached her 119th birthday on August 21, 2016.

The sudden death left Fu Suqing's relatives regretful at not being able to return from far-flung homes to see her for one last time.

On Saturday evening, the lights of Fu Suqing's home were still on. There were elegiac couplets on the door saying she worked hard her whole life, dedicating it her children. Along with the couplets was a sign saying "the oldest woman in the world". A dozen people were mourning her death reaching back to her fourth generation. "They came back home from the surrounding areas of Chengdu," said Leng Ting, Fu's great granddaughter, to Chengdu Business Daily.

Leng Ting told the Chengdu Business Daily that at around 8 o'clock Saturday morning, everything was as usual. When it was time for breakfast, Fu had no appetite and refused to eat. Her children went on to have breakfast without her. All of a sudden, they saw Fu fall into bed, her eyes open, yet without breath. The incident happened so suddenly that Fu left without saying a word.

Leng Ting said that Fu's health was in bad condition since the beginning of the year. "She slept most of the time and ate less double - fried pork. But just a few days ago, her wellbeing seemed to improve because she ate pork."

Fu Suqing was born in Jianyang and moved to Shuangliu county with her husband 40 years ago. Fu lived her life without much fortune. She would always wear a blue handkerchief on her head with coarse clothes. In terms of meals, Fu loved coarse grain food. She loved double - fried pork and was able to eat pork in the morning and in the afternoon. "She would have three meals a day with double - fried pork. And she loves peaches, grapes, and peanuts."

Fu Suqing stayed in good health for a long time. When she was over 100 years old, she would pick oranges and clean the yard. However, this year her health went into a relatively bad condition, she lost weight and she slept most of the time. "She used to eat lots of double - fried pork, but then she started to eat less and would only have soup sometimes," said Xu Shuhua, Fu's daughter. The old lady's temper also worsened. She no longer liked being touched by others, would lose her memory, and no longer could recognize her grandchildren.

Fu's title as the world's oldest female was identified by Carrying The Flag World Records in 2013 and 2016, a London-based authority on record-breaking achievement.
