The photo shows passengers stranded at Sihuidong Station along Beijing's subway line 1. Service of the line was suspended starting at 7:30 a.m. on the morning of Thursday, Aug. 18 in response to signal breakdown, delaying a large number of passengers and disturbing the morning commute. Crew members suggested transportation alternatives via an ongoing broadcast made to waiting passengers. At a length of 31 kilometers and including 23 stops, subway line 1 is one of the busiest subway lines in the city.
