Recently, the news that a woman single-handedly subdued a man who tried to sexually harass her went viral online. Many netizens have called the woman a hero and praised her bravery.
On the morning of Aug. 14, as Xiao Mo was waiting for the subway at Songjiang Sports Center Station in Shanghai, a strange man suddenly appeared and grabbed her breast. Xiao grabbed and restrained the man's hand at once. The molester tried to run onto an outgoing subway train, but Xiao maintained her grip. Eventually she boarded another subway train and forced the man to board with her. He finally stopped struggling once they were both inside the car.
When the subway stopped at Songjiang New City Station, Xiao dragged the man off the train and called police from the station. She kept a tight grip on the man's collar with one hand while she took photos of him with the phone in her other.
Once the police arrived, the man admitted his misconduct. He was given five days in detention as a consequence of his actions.
Xiao posted about the incident in her Weibo. She said that the molester paid the price for what he did. She hopes that the man will turn over a new leaf. She also called on other women to fight back when harassed, and encouraged the police and other bystanders to do whatever they can to help.
