A 19-year-old man was arrested yesterday in Xiamen City, Fujian Province, in connection with the rape of a five-year-old girl, China Youth Daily reported.

On May 21, the child was raped in a shed on the site, where she had been playing.

"I called the police, but the rapist ran away when the police arrived."

The child's father said a hospital examination confirmed that she had been raped.

According to the website, Jiang confessed to police that he had raped the girl, saying he had been "seeking a thrill"
