The dress rehearsal for Rio's opening ceremony has now finished. Although many notices were posted asking attendees to help "keep the suspense and not take photographs," there are still images and videos on social media.

A large screen was set up in Maracana Stadium. This time, the total number of actors and volunteers participating in the ceremony is around 6,000; for comparison, this is far fewer than there were at Beijing's opening ceremony, and roughly half the amount present in London. More than 10,000 athletes will participate in the opening ceremony. The budget for the Rio Olympic Games is 92 percent and 95 percent of those for the London and Beijing Games respectively.

Who will light the Olympic flame is always a source of great speculation. As the most representative Brazilian athlete, it is likely that Pele will do it, especially as he did not appear in the list of 12,000 torch bearers. Pele seemed to suggest as much on Twitter, with a post from one week ago about a new song that he says will be dedicated to "my country."

Brazilian popular singer Anita, renowned vocalist Gilberto Gil and Caetano Veloso will also appear at the ceremony. Supermodel Gisele Bündchen will sing the well-known song "Girl from Ipanema."

A theme of the opening ceremony is the Amazon rainforest. The ceremony aims to remind people to treasure natural resources and protect the global environment. Additionally, athletes participating in the ceremony will be invited to sow tree seeds. The seeds will then be taken to parks in Deodoro and hopefully become part of the actual rainforest in the future.

The opening ceremony will ended with a fireworks show.
