
The first World Elite University Football Tournament kicked off on July 31 at Tsinghua University. Hosted by Tsinghua, eight other soccer teams were invited to participate, including teams from Cambridge University, Oxford University, the University of Melbourne and the University of Southern California. The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Peking University and Renmin University of China also participated. The tournament continues until Aug. 6. Its goal is to foster communication and sportsmanship between soccer players from universities around the world, while at the same time promoting college soccer in China.
