A paralyzed student from central China's Henan province just received admission to one of China’s top universities after scoring impressively high marks on the college entrance exam.
Zhu Zhiqiang, from the city of Jiaozuo, was born with spinal problems. Since he was very little, he hasn't been able to feel his back. When he was 4 years old, Zhu's mother got him to kindergarten by carrying him on her back, and she continued this habit for the next 14 years.

As Zhu's problem progressed, however, it started being difficult for him to sit for long periods of time. His doctor suggested that he quit school, which would have been feasible since junior high is the end of compulsory schooling in China.
However, Zhu continued going to class. As soon as he entered high school, with permission from the school, he actually moved his bed to the classroom so he could lie on it while attending classes and doing homework.
Zhu was recently admitted by Wuhan University, which is ranked among the top 10 universities in China, thanks to an impressive score of 645 on the university entrance exam. He plans to major in math. Zhang says he is going to work even harder in college.
