Chen Li is one of the artists in the block printing woodcut base in Nakeli Village, Pu’er City. His works are famous for being grand and extensive in compositions.
Originating from the region of Pu’er during the 1980s, the block printing woodcut is a new technique for printmaking. All color plates of a picture is concentrated on one plate, and the mode of creation is adopted, with which a picture is carved while being printed, and diminished plate by plate. The process of printmaking is a process that a print is destroyed naturally without reversal. It is usually called out-of-print mimeographed chromatographic woodblock print that is different from traditional plate-distributed chromatography.
