The last vestiges of Typhoon Nepartak are burning out this Sunday over Fujian.
The typhoon, which made landfall on the mainland early Saturday afternoon, is being blamed for leaving at least 5 people missing and feared dead in Fujian.
Nepartak hit Fujian with winds of around 100-kilometers per hour yesterday.
It forced authorities in the southeastern province to relocate around 430-thousand people from the direct path of the storm.
Nepartak also forced the closure of 5 different airports in Fujian, resulting in around 400 flights being cancelled.
The first typhoon of the year hit southern Taiwan early Friday morning with Super Typhoon status, tearing its way across the southern portion of the island, killing at least 2 people and leaving dozens of others hurt.
However, its path across the island severely weakened the storm, saving the mainland from the brunt of the wind and rain it had been packing.
