China-U.S. Game Innovation Summit held in Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES, June 13 (Xinhua) -- 2016 China-U.S. Game Innovation Summit was held in Los Angeles Monday, gathering dozens of Chinese and U.S. entrepreneurs and experts in game industry to discuss future cooperation in the field.

Held at the Omni Hotel in Los Angeles downtown, the summit was aimed at recalling the progress made in China-U.S. cooperation in game industry, looking into the future development of the industry, and discussing the differences between Chinese and U.S. game products, game related trade, market and E-sports industry, Liu Jiehua, executive vice chairman of the Game Publishing Committee of the China Audio-Video and Digital Publishing Association, said in his opening remarks of the summit.

"We will explore the new opportunities, new methods, new way in the China-U.S. cooperation in the game industry and facilitate the discussion to transform to market deal," he added.

In 2015, the revenue in China's game industry reached 140.7 billion yuan (22.6 billion U.S. dollars), 22.9 percent higher than the previous year.

"The size of the game markets in both China and the U.S. is very big. So the two countries have great opportunity of cooperation in this field," said Liu Haiyan, commercial counselor of China's consulate-general in Los Angeles.

The one-day summit gathered entrepreneurs and experts from NetEase, Sony, Microsoft, Dome, Perfect World, Blizzard and some other U.S. and Chinese companies to attend and discuss topics as "New trends of VR/AR," "China's games going abroad," "Differences between Chinese games and Western games," and "E-sports industry development."
