ZHENGZHOU, June 14 -- Six people were killed and two injured in central China's Henan Province on Tuesday after a minibus was hit by part of a collapsed aqueduct.
The accident occurred at about 5 a.m. when part of an aqueduct in Rencun Township, Linzhou City, collapsed and crushed a passing minibus with eight people aboard, the city government said in a press release.
The driver died at the scene and five died later at hospital. Two others were still being treated at hospital.
The statement said the accident was triggered by rainstorms that lashed the city from 9 p.m. Monday to 2 a.m. Tuesday, packing winds of up to 115 km per hour.
A further investigation is under way.
