The small Indian civet appears in downtown area of Pu’er

Recently, Simao Forest Public Security Bureau of Pu’er City found a “sick cat” in the downtown. With careful observation, it was confirmed to be a small Indian civet, the class II protected species in China. After weighing, the male small Indian civet was 46 cm in length, 2.4 kg in weight, with a 34cm-long tail.

The small Indian civet belongs to Viverricula, Viverridae. They generally inhabit forest in low mountains and broad-leaved forest in China, Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, etc.

The small Indian civets generally inhabit forest in low mountains and broad-leaved forest, and haven’t appeared neighboring Simao for many years.
