A 42-year-old man recently took a special trip with his 11-year-old daughter. They spent two and a half days traveling 1,500 kilometers by hitchhiking, chinanews.com reported on Tuesday.
The journey of Fang Hong and his daughter started from Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and ended in Henan province. The two also made their way through Hunan and Hubei provinces. Over the course of the trip, they rode in a total of eight cars.
Fang said his daughter behaved well throughout the trip. Though sometimes she experienced carsickness, she never complained about it. He added that his daughter has been participating in charity campaigns since a very young age. During this trip, she also promoted public services with Fang. She has grown up a lot after the trip, Fang said.
According to Fang, he hopes his daughter was able to learn through hitchhiking to accept different attitudes from different people. This way she will be better equipped to face frustration and adapt to challenging circumstances.
Another benefit of hitchhiking, according to Fang, is that it allowed him to save money, which he could then give to charity, and that it positioned him to communicate with people from all walks of life. Fang added that he hopes to set a world record for hitchhiking in the future.
