A few days ago, Wang Qishan, a member of Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the CPC, convened a rap session with a portion of responsible comrades from the central ministries and commissions in Beijing.
The rap session is to take advice regarding the formulation of the CPC’s accountability regulation. “The Party Central Committee is serious about accountability!”, Wang Qishan emphasized this during the rap session.
In January 2016, it was pointed out in a work statement drafted during the Sixth Plenary Meeting of the Eighteenth Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the CPC that it is necessary to consider the accountability factor as the important starting point for comprehensively governing the Party strictly and for the purpose of formulation of The Accountability Regulations within the Party of the Communist Party of China.
Almost a half year ago, Wang Qishan convened the first rap session regarding the formulation of the accountability regulations within the Party, which means that this deployment has already achieved progress.
Wang Qishan, during the rap session convened a few days ago, emphasized that the accountability regulations system is an important institutional container for comprehensively governing the Party. The process of regulation formulation is a process of thought and knowledge unification as well as the process of releasing the strong signal of looking into the defaulters.
The Party committees, Party organizations, discipline inspection commissions, discipline inspection departments as well as the Party’s departments of all levels must set examples through their own actions, it will use accountability to put downforce on the implementation of responsibility, therein pushing the Party governance methods to shift from being loose and soft-going to being tight and strict.
Wang Qishan indicated that the formulation of the accountability regulations is to warn to the whole Party that the Party Central Committee takes accountability seriously and that if the Party’s leading officials are not responsible, they will be called to account.
