BEIJING, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- The discipline watchdog of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Friday asked for officials violating the CPC's "eight-point" anti-bureaucracy and formalism rule to be publicly named and shamed.

According to a circular issued after a standing committee meeting of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI), violators' names will be published on the commission's website along with details of their work units, positions, major violations and punishments.

The meeting, presided over by CCDI head Wang Qishan, concluded that such exposure would be a significant measure to improve officials' working style and strengthen innovation in the disciplinary sector.

Disciplinary agencies at various levels are told to innovate in their organizational and supervisory system and take a lead in exercising self-supervision, according to the meeting.

Officials who turn a blind eye to such violations will be held accountable.

The "eight-point" rule was introduced at a meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee in late 2012.
