Beijing police investigate illegal casinos

Beijing police are now investigating illegal casinos in the city, the authority said on Monday after local media exposed the hidden casinos found in some residential apartments.

Those casinos were first reported by Beijing News after its reporters’ secret investigation. They found that in those illegal casinos opened at residential apartments, the dealer could easily make millions of yuan out off of gamblers.

In order to lure more bets from the gamblers, those casinos hired cappers. In addition, those dealers often played tricks to win the gambling matches, but those gamblers who lost money always wanted to win back their money, but ended up losing more.

The gamble stakes in the casinos often amounted between 5,000 yuan and 10,000 yuan. A man who once gambled in this type of illegal casino lost 300,000 yuan in only two rounds.

In order to prevent themselves from being discovered by police, those casinos have strict check procedures before the gamblers entered those places. In addition, they have also changed their location from time to time.

What’s more, those casinos also colluded with usury lenders. When those gamblers lost their money, the usury lenders would provide them with usury. But not everyone could get the loans, since the lenders tend to investigate the properties of the gambler in advance.

The police have paid much attention to the report, and they have launched a related investigation, the authorities indicated in their official microblog that severe punishment will be imposed on those found accountable for such offenses.
