The Chinese ministry of transport has published a draft stipulating that passengers have to register by their real names when booking ship tickets for distances over 30 kilometers.
According to the draft, ticket buyers should provide their ID number when booking tickets online or by phone, and passengers should also show their ID card before boarding.
Port operators are responsible for checking and verifying the information offered by travelers ahead of boarding.
The authority is soliciting public opinion on the new draft.
