The Beijing College Student Film Festival, which originated in 1993, has witnessed the development of China's film industry. More than 300 domestic productions were submitted to this year's festival, alongside 4,033 original works by college students and 15,000 works of photography (15 times the number received last year). Thousands of micro-films, often less than 30 minutes in lengths, were also submitted.
Aside from awarding excellence in movies, this year's festival also hosted screenings and fan-meeting events of nine domestic films, such as Chongqing Hotpotand Bad Guys Always Die, as well as various academic forums and activities to pay tributes to classic films and film workers.
