Moments in the life of linemen

Have you ever got such an experience in the wild? With one quilt, you sleep on a mattress on top of a plastic film placed upon a layer of thatch. It is almost the daily experience for 29-year-old Long Yu and his brother 24-year-old Long Xian.

Long Yu and Long Xian come from a village of more than 500 households in southwest China's Guizhou province. Long Yu followed a labor contractor out of his hometown when he graduated from junior high school at the age of 16 and since then Long Yu has been working as a lineman. The pay for installing overhead lines is two times the pay of helpers who assist with on-the-ground tasks, said Long Yun.

A couple of years later, with the assistance from Long Yu, Long Xian became a lineman too. With the company, Long Yu has been to most Chinese cities.(Photo/China.org.cn)
