Manuel Barrantes is a 64-year-old man living in San Isidro de Perez Zeledon, Costa Rica. As a backpacker he has traveled in 18 different countries. When he visited some places where people stay underground when there is a bad weather, the idea of building his own subterranean house hit him and Barrantes started his project as soon as he got home.
