Nearly 500 kilograms of ancient copper coins was recently unearthed in northwestern China's Shaanxi province. Preliminary examination showed that they may date back to China’s Han Dynasty about 2,000 years ago.
The money was found by a local villager surnamed Zhang when he leveled his homestead base, and local police dug these money out after Zhang reported to them, CNWEST reported.
According to local cultural heritage department, the copper coins are in different forms, weighing 459 kg in total. They could date back to the Han Dynasty.
The coins will be handed over to cultural heritage department for further study.
