Jan 24, 2016 was the 100-year-old birthday of Wang Shijiu, a man who lives in Yuexing village, Anxi county of southeast China's Fujian province. It has been 80 years since he married his wife, which is called the oak tree marriage.

His birthday party started at 11 a.m. on the day. Putting on the new clothes prepared by daughters and sons, this old couple sat in the middle of the hall and received good wishes from their children. The family of five generations celebrated the moment by singing the birthday song.

This old couple has raised eight children — two sons and six daughters. The sons gave birth to 13 children, and their six daughters had a total of 85 children. This couple has 156 descendants. "It is really difficult for my father to recognize all the children," said Wang Heping, a son of this couple.

Wang Shijiu and his 97-year-old wife Wu Yan have been living an ideal life that is called 'men plough the fields and women weave'. Cooking meals, feeding chickens and ducks, growing vegetables are daily lives of this old couple. "My father always wakes up in the early morning every day. The first thing he does is to boil water and he likes to drink strong tea," said Wang Heping, a son of this couple.

"Wang Shijiu is the oldest person who lives in Jiandou town. It is a rare phenomenon in this town that both he and his wife are so longevous," said Wang Xuxi, the deputy director of the local aging association.
