A colossal tungsten mine located in Fuliang county, Southeast China’s Jiangxi Province, has been identified. With 2.86 million tons of reserves, the mine becomes the world’s largest tungsten pit, Department of Land and Resources of Jiangxi Province confirmed on Tuesday.
Tungsten is a chemical element of hard and rare metal. Its consisting of alloys makes the resource useful for many applications, such as light bulb filaments and X-ray tubes. It’s also a substantial element used for military as well as new technologies. This mine will serve as one key resource to propel developments in various industries, including aviation, nuclear, ship, and car.
