Public health authorities in Shanghai have confirmed a human case of H7N9 bird flu.
The 59-year-old man is a resident of Shanghai.
He is now receiving treatment in hospital.
H7N9 is a strain of the bird flu which began surfacing nearly 3-years ago in China.
It's most likely to strike in the winter and spring, and can be fatal.
