China Railway Construction Corporation Ltd. Confirms Staff Casualties in Mali

Three of the victims who were killed in a hostage-taking situation at Radisson Blu hotel in Mali's capital Bamako on Friday morning have been identified as Chinese nationals who were representatives for China Railway Construction Corporation Ltd. This information came from an online statement released Saturday.

The victims were identified as executives from the company. Their names are as follows, Zhou Tianxiang, General Manager of CRCC, Wang Xuanshang, Vice-General Manager of CRCC and Chang Xuehui, General Manager of CRCC's branch office in West Africa.

In a statement posted on the company's official website, people expressed deep sorrow and sent heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims as well as condemning the actions of the terrorists.

Islamic extremists armed with guns and grenades stormed Radisson Blu hotel in Mali's capital Bamako on Friday morning. As many as 170 people were reportedly held hostage.

At least 27 people were killed after Malian forces staged a rescue mission to free hostages held by gunmen at the luxury hotel in Bamako.

Mali's security minister, Salif Traore, has confirmed all remaining hostages have been evacuated.
