Northern China's Shanxi province will introduce an on-arrival visa service at Taiyuan Wusu International Airport, according to the province’s Public Security Department.
A spokesperson of Department of Public Security of Shanxi Province said that arrangements are almost complete. The Department of Port Service of Entry and Exit Administration Bureau of the Department of Public Security of Shanxi Province will issue seven types of on-arrival visas including visiting visa, group travel visa, business visa, relatives visa, personnel exchange visa and private visa to foreigners.
The government of Shanxi province submitted a port visa service application to China's State Council in May 2015, with the application being approved in July. Local authorities have worked out regulations of issuance of on-arrival visas and trained staff members on visa issuance.
According to statistics released by the department, the number of temporary entries of foreigners increased from 24,313 in 2005 to 150,036 in 2014, six times as many. To date for 2015, the number of temporary entries by foreigners passed 130,000 since January.
According to the Bureau of Exit and Entry Administration of China's Ministry of Public Security, 77 ports across 55 cities in China carry out port visa service while the capitals of seven provinces including Shanxi, Qinghai and Gansu are not authorized to issue port visas.
