CANBERRA, Nov. 7 (People's Daily Online) -- Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Australia launched The Handbook for Chinese Travelling in Australia 2015 in Canberra on November 6.

In order to better inform Chinese nationals about Australia's society, laws and regulations, enhance their safety awareness and ability to protect themselves, the Chinese Embassy in Australia has started to publish The Handbook for Chinese Travelling in Australia since 2013. This year's book is the third edition.

"China-Australia ties have made important progress over the past year. Chinese President Xi Jinping paid a successful state visit to Australia in November 2014. During the visit, our two countries established comprehensive strategic partnership, opening a new chapter in bilateral ties. The healthy and stable development of bilateral ties not only serves the fundamental interests of both countries and people, but also contributes to peace, stability and prosperity of the Asia-Pacific region," Ambassador Ma Zhaoxu addressed the launching ceremony.

"Friendship between peoples holds the key to building sound country-to-country relations. In 2013, 640,000 Chinese visited Australia. This year, the number has reached nearly one million. What’s more, there are 240,000 Chinese students studying in Australia. We have made unremitting efforts to ensure that Chinese nationals could study, work and live in Australia in a safe and sound manner. I hope this handbook can truly become a handy book for all Chinese nationals travelling or living in Australia," he said.
