SYDNEY, Sept. 24 -- More than 11,000 properties in Western Australia, mainly in the southwest, have been without power since a wild storm hit the state on Sunday, local media reported Tuesday.
The worst affected town is Manjimup with 3,000 homes and businesses blacked out.
The towns of Augusta, Pemberton and Nannup were also hit by the wild weather overnight.
A Western Power spokesman said generators were taken to Manjimup on Monday to restore power to essential services, including two aged-care homes, a waste water plant, a supermarket and a service station.
Western Power is trying to restore electricity to its customers in the affected areas as soon as possible.
