Cheng Xin, 13, lives in Xiushui county of east China's Jiangxi province. A premature infant, she was diagnosed with cerebral palsy when she was six months old. Since then, her parents have taken her to see doctors all over the country. Over 400,000 yuan have been spent on her treatment, and the family is heavily in debt. However, her condition hasn't turned better. Every day, Cheng Xin has to lie in bed stiffly.
Several months ago, Cheng Xin began to ask her grandma to give her alcoholic drink when she felt the pain was unbearable. She drank beer at first, then liquor with soda, and now she simply drinks liquor. "The liquor makes her faint, so she can feel better. She is so young. How could she drink so much liquor?" her grandma said in tears. Her families worried that she has alcohol poisoning and have set a limit to the quantity she drinks.
Her grandma said, "My only wish is to see her stand up and walk one day. If she can be cured, we are willing to do whatever it takes."
