Chinese Ministry of Defense has lodged solemn protests to the U.S. on the U.S. warship USS Lassen illegally entering waters near Zhubi Reef, part of China’s Nansha Islands in the South China Sea, on October 27, 2015. China has sent missile destroyer Lanzhou and patrolling destroyer Taizhou to warn the trespassing U.S. warship.

This action by the United States threatens China’s sovereignty and security interests, endangers the safety of personnel and facilities in the reef, and harms regional peace and stability.

The Foreign Ministry on Tuesday expressed "strong discontent" and "resolute opposition" over the patrol of U.S. warship. Spokesperson Lu Kang urged the U.S. to “immediately correct its wrongdoing” on October 27.

Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Yesui has summoned U.S. ambassador to China Max Baucus on the evening of October 27 to protest over the issue.
