The 500-square-kilometer wetland of Kanglake lake is fed by the Qarqan River running from Mt. Kunlun, nourishing a wild variety of wildlife.

Herons are seen on the Kanglake Lake in the Taklimakan Desert, the biggest moving desert in China, in the county's northwestern Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The 500-square-kilometer wetland of Kanglake lake is fed by the Qarqan River running from Mt. Kunlun, nourishing a wild variety of wildlife. (Xinhua/Li Yang)
