The Media Cooperation Forum on "One Belt and One Road" hosted by the People’s Daily opens in Beijing Monday.
In the autumn of 2013, Chinese President Xi Jinping put forward the initiative of jointly building the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road when visiting the Central and Southeast Asian countries. In March 2015, the Chinese government issued the “Vision and Actions on Jointly Building the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road”, which comprehensively elaborates on the content and layout of the “One Belt and One Road”.
Inspired by the vision, the People’s Daily hosts the 2015 Media Cooperation Forum on "One Belt and One Road", with the theme “Common Destiny and New Patterns of Cooperation”. The forum aims at deepening the media cooperation among the “Belt and Road” countries to facilitate the construction of the “One Belt and One Road”.
The forum invites more than 160 foreign guests from 60 countries and international organizations as well as 122 mainstream media. It is an international media forum with the largest scale, most participating countries and foreign media organizations which has been held by the Chinese media in recent years.
Wang Jiarui, Vice-chairman of the CPPCC and minister of the International Department of the Central Committee of the CPC, delivers a speech at the opening ceremony. Yang Zhenwu, President of the People's Daily, also addresses the opening ceremony.
