Chinese animation film Monster Hunt has had a box office of over 2 billion yuan since it debuted. Audiences are all amazed by its cool special effects and vivid animated figures, but few people know that all of these came from a Chinese company Base FX, founded by an American.

Christopher Bremble comes from United States. He was graduated from University of Southern California. Chris came to China for his second movie in 2002. He soon became very interested in Chinese culture and decided to pay attention to it. When Chris was working on his third movie, he made up his mind and moved his post production to China. In 2006, Base FX was “born” in Beijing. Now Chris has been in China for 13 years.

In the beginning, Chris also encountered some obstacles when running the company. Luckily he did not give up right away. As time moves by, more talented people joined the company. On top of that, governmental policy support also helped attract more artists to participate into international activities like these.

The great potential in the Chinese film market is another factor that attracts Chris to stay in China. He believes for entertainment movies, visual effect is a vital component. Just like US filmmakers, Chinese directors also have a high expectation for visual effects. Chris thinks this is both opportunity and challenge for his team. Chris also thinks highly of his employees: “95 percent of my employees are Chinese. They are smart, creative, talented, have passion for the movie industry and work hard for it. My work is to help them realize their dreams.”

In April 2014, Base FX and other 20 Chinese film technology companies formed an alliance, majorly focusing on post-production filed, and aiming to foster the development of the Chinese movie industry.
