A picture spread on the Internet recently shows a newly painted multi-purpose fighter jet J-16 in trial fly. News said that the fighter is very close to be put into service, estday.com reports on August 4.

Designed and manufactured by China's Shenyang Aircraft Industry Group, J-16 fighter is a multi-role fighter/bomber variant based on the J-11BS with longer range and upgraded avionics.

Seen from the photos spread online, the J-16 fighter is equipped with WS-10 turbofan engine and was painted the eggplant color. The J-16 has a slightly different vertical stabilizer compared to J-11 fighter or J-15 naval fighter.

Due to the equipment of home-made electronic equipment, J-16 can use a variety of domestic air-launched weapons, which will greatly expand its use and development potential.
