A group of large-scale tombs dating back 2,000 years were discovered recently in Mori Kazak Autonomous County, northwestern China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region by an archaeological team under Chinese Academy of Social Science. According to preliminary study, they might be tombs of Qin and Han Dynasties. Among the more than 100 tombs, the largest one is 70 meters in diameter and 9 meters in height. They are surrounded with huge rocks and mounds. It might be a tomb of a nobleman of the prairie tribe in eastern Tianshan Mountain.(CFP Photo) |
