In 1942, when Qin Qiurong was only 16 years old, his father urged him to get married. Qin refused and chose to join the army and fight against the Japanese invaders. Before he left, he said to his fiancée Qin Suansao that the nation came before the family. He said, "Wait for me to get back, I'll marry you after the victory!"
In August 1945, Japan surrendered. Qin Qiurong came back to his hometown in Guangxi and got married to Qin Suansao.
In October 1949, when Qin's wife was pregnant with their second baby, he decided to join the PLA and make contribution to the country. After another 3 years in the army, Qin came back to work in a bookshop in Guilin. One time, he went back home after half a year apart and saw a woman at the entrance of the village, Qin did not even recognize that she was his wife. As Qin Suansao had to take care of four children all by herself under harsh condition, she had aged a lot. Since then, Qin Qiurong began to pay a lot of attention to their home.
Going through war, starvation, and all the other difficulties, the couple cherish each other more than anyone. Even now, they spend all the time together, making every second count.
