A bus company in Bengbu, China’s Anhui province recently decided to pay each of their employees with about 500 coins to reduce the stockpile of the currency in their storage places.
The bus company said they received everyday coins worth around 250,000 yuan ($41,666) and the coins have been piling up so high in their storage areas that they decided to pay their employees partly with the coins.
The group has a total of 2,700 employees, each of them got about 500 coins weighing about 6 pounds this month as part of their salary.
Employees responded with a mixed feeling about their employer but most of them accept them with pleasure.
The group’s administration said they are trying to solve the issue as soon as possible but didn’t rule out paying with coins again in the future.
