SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organization) Secretary-General Dmitry Mezentsev walks People's Daily reporter through the highlights of the upcoming SCO held in the Southwestern Russian city of Ufa from July 9th till the 10th.

Passing a resolution on starting the procedures of granting India and Pakistan full-membership of SCO draws attention. Once the resolution is passed, the organization will enter a new developmental stage both in economic cooperation and regional security.

Fourteen significant documents are to be deliberated and signed by the heads of states of the membership countries. Among them is the "SCO Development Strategy towards 2015," which draws blueprint for the development of SCO in the coming 10 years. 

China continues to play a significant role in SCO, especially with regard to economy, regional security and development planning within SCO. In 2013, President Xi Jinping unveiled the "One Belt One Road" framework, in light of which the membership countries signed papers of transportation cooperation.
