China’s carbon emission only increased 0.9 percent in 2014, a marked deceleration compared with its 10-year average of 5.9 percent, according to BP Statistical Review of World Energy published in Guangzhou on June 25.
The review also says that China’s energy consumption increased by just 2.6 percent in 2014, below half of its 10-year-average, while its GDP grew 7.5 percent. Global primary energy consumption decelerated sharply in 2014, and China contributed to the deceleration through its economic restructuring.
