China, Russia step up media cooperation with 9 deals inked (2)

Lu Xinning, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of People’s Daily urged Chinese and Russian media provide a fully rounded national image for the world. She said that facing media defined by the western world, the international images of China and Russia are occasionally mysterious and ambiguous, even negative and vicious. It is hard to avoid political and cultural misinterpretation when the self-centered western countries deliver manipulated images of each countries to the global audience.

"Leading the development of all media, Chinese and Russian media outlets have plenty of experience to share. Besides strategically building the exchange system of all-media international communication, the cooperation of the two sides should also supply each other's needs and create cultural products, for the sake of providing a more wholesome national image for the world." Lu added.

Tian Jin, Deputy Secretary of the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television, said there are great expectations for the "China-Russia Media Exchange Year". According to the media exchange framework, the Chinese and Russian Media Cooperation Subcommittee has collectively organized activities and formed an important consensus, which includes: media policy exchanges, feature reports, cooperation in television and film, translation of published books, emerging media exchanges, media cooperation and educational training, and series of upcoming events are under planning. The two sides are also planning on joint filming and broadcasting on the theme of Silk Road Economic Belt and Eurasian Economic Union.

Sergey Mikhaylov, Director-general of the Tass News Agency said Tass is ready to develop an information partnership with Chinese media. Using the current foundation of information resources, Tass has long been committed to news reporting in China, showing China to the world in an circumspective way. Tass stands ready to develop an information partnership with Chinese media. He believes with concerted effort, the media from China and Russia can achieve win-win results in new media’s technological development and major reporting tasks.
