An innovative aspect of the upcoming seventh round of China-US Strategic and Economic Dialogue is that both sides will hold strategic discussions on the Sino-US economic relations from a strategic height and global vision, said Chinese Vice Finance Minister Zhu Guangyao at a briefing on Friday.
The two countries have decided that the seventh China-U.S. Strategic and Economic Dialogue (S&ED) and the sixth China-U.S. High-Level Consultation on People-to-People Exchange (CPE) will take place on June 23 and 24 in Washington.
Sino-US economic relations is a reflection of blended interests of the two peoples and the ballast and propellant of the overall bilateral ties, added Zhu, who introduced relevant background, major events and significance of the forthcoming seventh round of China-US S&ED.
Vice Premier Liu Yandong, President Xi Jinping's special representative, and Secretary of State John Kerry will co-chair the 6th China-US High-level Consultation on People-to-People and Cultural Exchanges. Vice Premier Wang Yang and State Councilor Yang Jiechi, as President Xi Jinping's special representatives, will co-chair the China-US Strategic and Economic Dialogue with President Barack Obama's special representatives John Kerry and Secretary of the Treasury Jacob J. Lew, according to Assistant Foreign Minister Zheng Zeguang.
Zheng said that this round of Strategic Dialogue covers extensive topics including bilateral, regional and global major topics. The two sides will conduct in-depth exchanges of views on the topics including deepening bilateral pragmatic cooperation, building positive interaction between the two sides in the Asia Pacific region, properly controlling divergence and sensitive issues and dealing with regional hot-spot issues and global challenges.
