SYDNEY, Jun 9 – ‘Elumin8’, a team of five young Australian and Chinese entrepreneurs took out the top prize at the inaugural China Australia Millennial Project (CAMP) Gala Dinner on Friday 5th June in front of an audience of over 350 at the City of Sydney’s Town Hall. The ThinkTank team’s winning idea, the ‘ipod of energy’, is designed to change the way people monitor and engage with their energy consumption by ‘making energy visible’.
Judged by senior industry leaders, the competitive pitch event was the culmination of CAMP’s intensive face-to-face incubator summit in Sydney and a mentored nine-week online program delivered on the Practera platform for collaborative experiential education.
Having snatched first place at CAMP 2015, the Elumin8 team will now go on and attend Overseas Talent Entrepreneurship Conference (OTEC) in Beijing in August 2015, an opportunity to represent Australia and compete against teams from MIT and leading European universities for a top prize of 1,000,000 RMB.
Andrea Myles, CEO of CAMP, was overwhelmed by the results.
“The outcomes of not just the winning teams, but of all participants were phenomenal. I’m stoked to say the inaugural year was a breakout success, with a fantastic sense of camaraderie developing between the CAMPers, creating a legacy of powerful networks that only increase in value over time and trusted contacts that span our two amazing nations,” said Myles.
