Fire engulfs ethnic village in SW China

Residents carry water pipelines so as to repair the water supply systems after a fire in Jiuji Village of Jianhe County, southwest China's Guizhou Province, Dec. 14, 2014. A fire engulfed the Jiuji Village at around 3:40 p.m. on Saturday, affecting 619 residents. The relief work is underway. Jiuji is one of the biggest and best preserved villages of the Miao ethnic minority. It was selected by China as a UNESCO World Heritage site nominee in 2006. (Xinhua/Peng Wengui)
