Web model for Taobao makes 10,000 yuan a day

Xiaoya, 21, is a web model. She has been working for Taobao for one and a half years. Usually she has to change hundreds sets of clothes a day. "Today I have 150 clothes to change," said Xiaoya. At 7 a.m., Xiaoya already started to put on make up. 10 minutes for breakfast, 1 hour for make-up, 1 minute for changing, 3 minutes for taking photos of each clothes...This is a typical day for Xiaoya.

During the busy season like the Nov. 11 (a big sale day for online shopping in China), merchants who want to hire popular web models to display their clothes will have to make early appointments. Some of these models can even make over 10,000 yuan a day.

However, it is also laborious to take a job like this. According to Xiaoya, starvation, eye inflammation, and pains in the back and ankles are very normal for the profession. Sometimes these models have to go to several different places, and change hundreds sets of clothes for photos shooting in a day. Unscheduled and overtime working is more than normal to them.

Besides modeling for Taobao, Xiaoya also participates in other events as showgirl to win some titles. She said these prizes could improve her status and help her get higher payments.
