10 years of voluntary movie projectionist Wei Shaoxian

Wei Shaoxian is a 59-year-old farmer in Siliugu Village, Handan City. He made big money by running an enterprise in his early years. From 2004, he started collecting "red movies", his collection including more than 5,000 old war documentaries and revolution films, such as Weng Zhong Zhuo Bie and China 1949, among them 500 are scarce materials in China.

Wei Shaoxian became a voluntary projectionist in 2005. His steps have covered more than 10 provinces and cities of China. He has been to Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Henan, Jiangsu, Shanxi, Yunnan, showing movies over 3,000 times, touching more than 100,000 people. Rather than making money or entertaining himself, he has done it to spread red movies across the country and to let more people know about the history and treasure their current lives.
