BEIJING, Oct. 25 -- A senior leader of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Saturday called for a favorable media environment to promote rule of law.
Liu Yunshan, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, was addressing a meeting of representatives from the publicity and ideological front.
Liu urged the attendees to study and implement the new blueprint for rule of law, promising sweeping judicial reform, as laid out at the just-concluded fourth plenary session of the 18th CPC Central Committee.
Liu said the front should understand and publicize advancement of rule of law as a device to improve socialism with Chinese characteristics.
"We must correctly inform the public when disseminating the spirit of the fourth plenary session," said Liu, adding that the relationship between the rule of law and reform, and between the leadership of the Party and rule of law should be precisely explained.
