Due to increased costs, Xinyuan Bath, one of the oldest public baths and the last state-owned one in Beijing, closed its door for good on Sept. 20, 2014, leaving behind over 100 years of history. Dating back to the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty, the bath was nationalized in 1956. It will be remade into a hotel in the future.
