BEIJING, Sept. 7 -- An approaching tropical depression is expected to make landfall in south China's Guangdong and Hainan provinces on Monday, bringing heavy rain and strong gales along the way, the National Meteorological Center (NMC) forecasts on Sunday.
The coastal regions in the two provinces will see heavy rain or rainstorms on Monday, with strong gales measuring up to level 9, the center said.
Meanwhile, heavy rain will hit the northeastern parts of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, prompting the NMC to issue a storm blue alert for the region.
Monday marks one of China's busiest travel periods, with the celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival, a traditional Chinese holiday during which families reunite under the full moon and eat mooncakes.
